The importance of analysis of soil pollution by petroleum product - Soil Contamination Countermeasures Law

Nowadays the total consumption of petroleum products is about 2900 million kiloliters. They are consumed from home to industrial area. Accordingly, the establishment of the Soil Contamination Countermeasures Law, an evaluation of the soil pollution affects the value of real estate. After the evaluation of soil pollution, countermeasures will be important for the real estate business.

  • Benzene, regulated substance
    About 1% of Benzene is contained in gasoline. Toluene and Xylene are also regulated. TPH's criterion may be established.
  • Membrane of oil and smell of oil
    They can be a cause of construction of a countermeasure plan.


Feature of pollution by petroleum product

Now there is no regulation for petroleum product pollution in the Soil Contamination Countermeasure Law. In the future a regulation for petroleum pollution may be established. Below are the features of pollution by petroleum products.

  • There is no definite regulation.
  • Petroleum is the mixture of chemical compounds. Each petroleum product has different chemical composition. Therefore many-sided analysis is necessary.
  • Gasoline, Naphtha, Gas oil, Kerosene, Fuel oil, Lubricant and Asphalt are the main petroleum products. The analysis method has to be considered for each product.
